Description:
The Azusa Pacific University Department of Cinematic Arts invites applications for the position of the Program Director of the new B.A. in Digital Gaming and Interactive Media. The department, which consists of six full-time faculty members, offers a B.A. in Cinematic Arts, BFA in Cinematic Arts Production, BFA in Screenwriting, and an M.A. in Screenwriting. The Department is in the process of launching a B.A. in Animation and Visual Effects and a B.A. in Digital Gaming and Interactive Media.

The Department of Cinematic Arts is housed within the School of Visual and Performing Arts in the College of Music and the Arts. The College of Music and the Arts is focused on exceptional artistic development and the incorporation of authentic Christian faith. These dual aspirations extend and enrich our influence on culture.

Responsibilities:
The Program Director directs the B.A. in Digital Gaming and Interactive Media, teaches in the program, ensures academic excellence and innovation in the program, and coordinates the program’s curriculum and adjunct faculty. The Program Director reports to the Chair of the Department of Cinematic Arts and works with the department chair on faculty recruitment and development, program assessment and curriculum development, student recruitment and retention, development, and budget management.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and will, with the assistance of the department chair and the undergraduate associate dean, coordinate affairs of the B.A. in Digital Gaming and Interactive Media. Applicants should demonstrate an active career in gaming or related media. May be needed to work at alternative teaching sites.

Additional responsibilities include:
* Work with college and university leadership to recruit and retain students.
* Student advising.
* Active participation in service to the University through committee participation, School and/or University level as well as service to the broader professional community.
* Maintain active professional scholarship.
* Advance the APU mission, vision, and strategic plan.
* Other duties as assigned by the Chair.

Level: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications: Earned terminal degree in Digital Gaming and/or Interactive Media or equivalent professional experience, and a commitment to teaching excellence and industry connectivity.

Experience: Experience in higher-education teaching in Digital Gaming and/or Interactive Media or equivalent professional experience.

Workload: 10 or 11-month contract.
