The City of Asheville is seeking to hire a full-time interdepartmental Digital Services Developer position in the Information Technology Department. This position supports Asheville's Development Services Department (DSD) by delivering civic technology solutions that improve engagement between external customers and city government. Uses strong communication and customer service skills in working with the development community, citizens, and DSD staff to identify and address business needs. Enhances and creates clear, inviting interfaces that connect people with the land development and permitting processes of their local government. Collects user stories. Focuses on customer usability in designing and testing technology solutions. As a software developer handling front end user interface and user experience (UI/UX), data and third party integrations, this position stays abreast of available/emerging technologies and digital practices, evaluates the cost & benefits, and collaborates to create positive change where needed.
